In the entry hall, stopped halfway down the sweeping staircase that rose to the second floor, a high ranking member of the Trades Guild was staring at the open door to the meeting rooms. Candle light spilled out into the dim foyer, applause also tumbled out of the room along with many other noises of approval and congratulations. The Guildsman's face was inscrutable, frozen in deep concentration on the noise. A fellow of the same Guild rushed into the building from the Plaza beyond. He moved to cross to the meeting rooms but spotting his superior on the stair crossed, standing beneath him. "The crew bound for Broomfield has vanished!" He announced breathless. The superior Guildsman did not move his eyes from the doorway for a moment, then there was a slight twitch of the eye. "An elf, not even an Aolythian savage... a foreigner... and they make him Guildmaster of the Trades... a disgrace." "Sir?" "They just handed him the keys to the EastWharf Warehouse and... wait.. .what did you say?" "The Broomfield expedition, they vanished." "Send another. It was one of our newly anointed Guildmaster's pet projects, so it is now one of the Guild's top priorities eh? Hire some mercenaries or some such rabble to look after them." "Isn't that unwise given the trouble we..." "Not at all, and if there are consequences they'll fall on our new Guildmasters shoulders." That last word the superior relished and both paused briefly thinking of the gruesome fate of the last Guildmaster upon the chopping block. "It'll take at least a day to ready the paper work." "Only a day? So be it."nondisclosed_email@example.com (everf)Tue, 19 Feb 2013 20:26:00 +0000 A River Runs Through It ("Season" 2)https://bandrune.runboard.com/p3279,from=rss#post3279https://bandrune.runboard.com/p3279,from=rss#post3279Previously... quote:everf wrote: While the springtime storms which usually batter the region around the Stormcrest mountains have been relatively subdued this year the spring meltwater from the mountains has never flown in such a torrent. Most areas were not too badly affected but the small town of Broomfield has been flooded so severely that questions are now being raised about the town’s prospects for recovery. The news comes as a blow to hunters who would travel from all over to hunt waterfowl in the nearby Broomfield Fens. However with roads washed out, inns damaged beyond repair and several prominent townsfolk still missing it seems like duck hunting season is cancelled this year. Prologue It has now been almost a year since the town of Broomfield was all but eradicated by the Ar Gail river breaking its banks. Efforts to rebuild the town have been slow. With most workers leaving over winter the few remaining townsfolk spent the harsh season in the swampy remains of their once prosperous town. But it now seems that the fortunes of the town might be on the up. A wealthy Elven trader from abroad (who has for the past months been becoming an increasingly important figure in the world of Avendian merchants) has invested a considerable sum of money in the rebuilding of the town. Some say it is a move to ingratiate himself to the local nobility as Broomfield was once a favorite duck hunting spot for many Nobles. Guild work crews are already being assembled and will in the coming weeks be making way to Broomfield.nondisclosed_email@example.com (everf)Fri, 08 Feb 2013 10:35:20 +0000
