"Don't look in my inventory btw..."

I think the title says it all.

But I'll add a little context.
Running to Numos with every little g***amned thing is WHY he doesn't stay in game as much, you know. If a DM is doing you the favor of clearing out an extra undroppable item which, if you are missing it entirely, the server replaces it, you don't cry and whine and run off to the admin. Congrats on that. You ruined RP and a little storyline progression.

Re: "Don't look in my inventory btw..."

I don't get it. I had my stuff checked.... it seems to me if there there is stuff out there that no one should have then it should be checked. I am not clear on every thing but it seems that immunities are being worked out of the server so. Item checking is going to happen.

I mean I can truly only see it happening if you got a new character (lvl 6) with a weapon that will say a lvl 13 struggled to get. But however if RP they get it by a higher lvl I say good on them. I have given I items out "RP" out to lower lvl's. Malithra gave out a +3 tower shield as a peace offering to another character the other day.

In the end sins it's only a DM that can check an inventory I assume that is the issue. If there is a problem with items, perhaps we all should post are items that are not sold. But then hell most of us have at least 2 main characters and at least 2+ sub characters that would be in the end a pointless ambition.

Perhaps though we should as a server agree on "one" format for items. Say the max a weapon can have for damage per or other wise is 1d8. I don't know but low lvl's (like a like lvl 10) that can fight on par with a lvl 18 is a bit much. However I will not rule out character builds. Some builds are just damn good.

In the end I say if we are going to have an argument about item checking, then I say we first set a rule base on items. that way we have a base so no one can say "Ow, well a DM gave me it." or "I got it during a quest"

Last, if there are thoughs items that are "uber" (I am more then sure I spelled uber wrong) Perhaps we should see if the character has earned it like we do epic lvl's?

*not meant to sound aggressive, but items seem to be a big part of all are problems*

I don't think we need to go rules nuts on stuff. I mean that's not even the point of the post. Yes, someone said that too me after I took a creature hide (skin) item out of their inventory. Those things get replaced if they're missing from your character when you relog. Sometimes if you crash you can end up with two of the things in your inventory with no way to dump them, so I cleared it out to be nice. I did the same thing for several other people and not one problem was brought up. THIS person went off the deep end then ran off to cry to the admin when a DM, someone who is obviously trusted enough to be upstairs, poked in their inventory.

Now there IS a bit of an issue with some heavy hitting crazy gear, but that's stuff based on over all balance in the server. Some DMs do hand out crazy powerful gear and some don't. that's being rectified by both the DMs and the Admin. Either way, no one was taking any GEAR from the person, but they somehow felt they were above reproach or something.

Yes, they actually said "Don't look in my inventory btw..."

PS: I'm all for some odds and ends, weird little items that enhance RP, slightly customized gear based on the character, but I'm a bit confused about some of the unlimited spells, crazy +8 bonus and slaying on hit stuff I've been seeing on some folks. These things I take the time to ask Numos about when he has a free moment, or I ask the player in question. It's not about bashing on folks for having powerful items, it's about making sure things aren't getting out of hand (see local vault history).

*laughs* This was over some skins?! Oh my god...... we could be doing better stuff and me not posting a long thing like that over skins? Ahh.... I am jumping off a cliff now. AHHH! We should be posting stupid stuff in the RP section... like... I was walking down the street and saw this Human, Elf and celestial walk into a bar!

Okay... taking my blue ball and going home. *picks up a red ball*

I could be a cynical bastard, but I expect people to try and get ahead any way they can in this game if there aren't DMs to step in. So yea, I *will* check your inventory. I don't care who you are.
If I find questionable items, I *will* ask you out about it. It'll be easier for both of us if you don't try to bullshit me.
If you want to bullshit me, I'm going to go into the preschool teacher from hell mode I mentioned in the "Last Night" post.

So let's pway nice an' hav fuun!

Tell ya what. Lets cut the cr*p once and for all. Why not do a server wide cleansing. Maximum Enchantment of any single given item in your inventory at +5 at lvl 20, going right out of the DMG's guide on Magic Items. It'll take some time to hit every character and get them in the okey doke (especially old character) but it will stop all complaining. the +5 system would mean this: Maximum Item Enchantment (for any item) at Lvl 4: +1; Lvl 8: +2; Lvl 12: +3, Lvl 16: +4, Lvl 20: +5. This means modifying existing items that do not adhere to this rule (even ones you've received from DMs or have had "forever and a day"). While we're at it, we might as well alter all Immunity Items. Totally swapping like this may take some time... But hex. It'll be worth it in the long run and there wont be any more hassles, Questions, or "Dont check my inventories." Just a straight rule that the server will abide by.

Well that's a bit of a headache and, again, entirely off the point of the post. It's a RARE thing when I discover one of these "uber item" gems. I'm just annoyed by the way the person felt they were somehow above everyone else and immediately ran to the admin (which in turn annoyed the admin).

The problem with this, really, is when DMs go overboard with custom-fitted rewards and items for characters. They're nice but it can get a little out of hand.
