Re: Leaving & Returning Thread
Hey there!
I'm new here. I haven't played NWN for a couple of years and I've been wanting to play again. I'm surprised that the NWN community is still going strong. See you server side!

Welcome! Have fun and see you in game.
I'm sometimes surprised its going to. But really as a system it's not something we'll see made by a big producer again any time soon. No money in letting the community keep playing without paying :P

Re: Leaving & Returning Thread
Hey all,
I am still really new to the server, but unfortunately I think I will have to leave you all for an unknown period of time.
My laptop has been trying to die on my for awhile (I can feel the heat through my keyboard) and it is sort of a miracle that it even started running NWN again when I started playing here. But after a big computer crash last night, and one this morning, there is a high chance that I will not be able to successfully run NWN until I get a new one. If I can make it in game a few more times, I will certainly try! And I really hope I will be able to return once a new computer is purchased.

Quite sorry to hear that. It was a pleasure having you while we did - no need to risk lighting yourself on fire, though.

Re: Leaving & Returning Thread
May have noticed I've not been on at all lately. Work has been kicking my ass so won't be on much over next couple of weeks. Will pop on when I can though. Looking forward to being back properly.

It has been a bit better on short in-game trips, I unfortunately probably wont be doing any long quests. There is a good chance that I will be able to purchase a new computer in a month or so, and hopefully I can get nwn to run on it. I had a lot of trouble with that on my current laptop.

Just out of curiosity, which version of Windows are you running? (Assuming that you're running Windows at all, of course.)

Windows 7. I basically have to direct connect to any server I play on. I went through the trouble of getting it to run on this computer while I played on another server last year. But I expect that I might have to go through the same issues when I attempt to install NWN on a new laptop. Hopefully I'm a pro at it by now.
The problem I am having now is just that this laptop is an 4 year old HP with overheating problems. I've been trying to keep it alive until I graduate in December, but it looks like I will have to retire it early. Womp womp.

Re: Leaving & Returning Thread
I still say that Windows XP was the best version for running games, whether Neverwinter Nights or otherwise.
I was having problems with Windows 7 blocking NWN last year, but I got around it somehow. And then I learned how to show the Run prompt in the Start Menu; why Microsoft saw fit to hide the Run prompt at all is beyond me. And I'm very reluctant to move onto Windows 8 because, with Windows' track record, I'm worried that Win 8 will be even worse at running games.
Do you do your Direct Connects through the Start Menu, or do you prefer to use shortcuts? I'm undecided on which approach works better.
As for your overheating laptop, they may sell cooling pads for laptops at your nearest Best Buy; just turn it on and set your laptop on top of it. Do you have a cooling pad already?
