Re: Andrune: Major Events and Rumors

Amidst the devastation and in-fighting caused by the Shadovar invasion Vera Smith, a hard-headed woman who has made a name for herself rooting out Fettik and Xephalim's treachery, has authored a book: Strategy and Life: A New Perspective. The length work, proposing why life-forms look and act as they do, was unveiled at Mrs. Polworth's Teahouse. Several prominent guests included: Magistix Talanee of the Library, Pasha Anwar al Nasir of Almraiven, and a surprised appearance by Lord-Governor Alaric Whiston of Highmarch.

The Pasha of Almraiven has banned possession of the book in his enclave. Several men were beaten by his guards for owning copies.

Mother Edana of the Imperial cult remarked, "An interesting theory on the development of biological and social constructs. In a sense we are indeed... tools intended to fulfill a specific purpose. It is a pity divine providence was developed as a framework."

A large number of angry Avendelians staged a demonstration outside of the Canneth's Court district: furious at the slave-keep Pasha, troublesome Faerunians, and full of accusations of his collusion with Thultanthar. As a show of good faith Anwar al Nasir hired several foreign mercenaries to drive a Shadovar necromancer from one of the city's cemeteries.

The effort met with success, but citizens continue to grumble...

Some particularly brave travelers through the savage forest of Moonveil report that the abandoned House of the Triad was decimated by a large group of treants.

The oppulant cathedral was once home to an order of knights lead by Kaley Patson and Malithra Waters. The Tormites briefly ruled the village of Rivenmaur but suffered from frequent attacks by tu'atha, and malcontent villagers. The cathedral was abandoned after Malithra was driven mad by a mysterious corruption and murdered her own knights.

Several adventurers including the holy warrior Lanthar, and street preacher Raguel were seen in the forest at the time of the cathedral's destruction.

News spreads from the village of Bodkin of a sudden attack by a horde of Orcs. While the force was initially pushed back into the forest by an ad hoc alliance of adventurers and militiamen, there is little doubt that the majority of the massive force still remains. Rumours vary widely, some stating that Gruumsh himself visited the site of the battle and others that Forest Giants joined the Orcs in attacking the village. While none of the stories are quite the same they all agree on two things: That the Orcs are lead by one they call Balar-who-is-Gruumsh and that this mighty Orc leader stole the body of a faithful warrior of Torm before fleeing the battlefield.

News spreads of another Orc attack on the village of Bodkin. The town survived, though just how this was accomplished is the subject of grand embellishments and rumours. Tales of a dozen hill giants, wide-eyed accounts of Eraywn himself defending the village and others colour every retelling. In spite of the victory the town's scant forces are dwindling rapidly beneath the heel of the massive, sudden horde...

Yet another Orc attack on Bodkin was joined and thwarted swiftly by well-prepared adventurers.

Strange lights and dull explosions out in the forest happened in tandem with but separately to the brief battle. Now all has settled it appears that another anonymous agency dealt with a great many Orcs with no trace of their handiwork by way of cuts or burns but instead leaving a large letter "E" branded on the forehead of each fallen Orc. Many rumours speculate as to the identity of whoever was repsonsible for the slaughter.

It is said the adventurers involved with defending the village pressed on against the Orc raiders after the brief attack and were successful in recovering a delirious but living cleric of Torm...

Re: Andrune: Major Events and Rumors

While roving bands of orcs grow in abundance in the Highlands, Thultanthar's invasion of Avendel begins to falter. Their iron-grip on the capital gardens was broken when a group of imperial-backed mercenaries and Tormites stormed the Spire and destroyed the much-feared Blood Golem. A horrid creation of the traitor-Magister Xephalim, it had previously devastated Imperial ranks by replenishing its form with each living foe slain.

Baron Gilgamesh Corwin bestowed special honor upon those who did the deed:
-Lanthar Aironiquise, Champion of Lughaid
-Dame Kaley Patson, Priestess of Torm
-Advocate Raguel, Priest of Torm
-Melinda Davis, local wizardess and merchant
-Katheia, traveling scholar

Increasingly conspicuous is the absence of the young Emperor, even as a figurehead...

In the dead of a stormy night the Orc Horde attacked Bodkin in full force, hundreds crashing in waves against the village. The militia along with a handful of mercenaries and adventurers barely held the attack, with accounts of Erawyn himself sending great wolves to aid in the defence.

Soon after the offense was broken a trio of heroes, Ronan Mac Mourn, Ainsley Finch and Melinda Davis accompanied by the massive Wolves of Erawyn pierced the heart of the horde, slaying their brutish master.

There is much weary celebration in the town and things are swiftly returning to normal...
