The Spellplague

On the 29th of Tarsakh, 1385 D.R., terrible blue fire streaks across the skies of Faerun in an apocalyptic aurora. The world is rocked by earthquakes and tidal surges, and wondrous acts of magic and alchemy soon go awry. Word soon spreads of a terrible prophecy toretold by Yaphyll, the Thayan Zulkiir of Divination.

"The white queen is troubled but can't say why. The black queen hates the white and gives the assassin a black coat. The assassin steals upon the white queen. She can't see him gliding through the shadows. The sword screams. The white queen falls. Her city falls. Stones fall in the cavern to crush the soothsayer. The tree burns and trashes in agony. Branches break. Branches twist and grow together..."

Rumor has it that Mystra, the Goddess of Magic, is dead and the weave has begun to untangle.

Re: The Spellplague

A terrible nightmare of death and destruction...

Vangerdahast, High Wizard of Cormyr, laughs hysterically as blue flame rains down around him - bringing to ruin the streets of Suzail. While the spellplague is not felt by wizards of Andrune, many arcanists throughout the realms have lost their power - or were driven to insanity by the raw, unbound magic coursing through the world's leylines.

Three savage figures: two elves, and a man, huddled around a misty pool. The two elves, but not the old man, each let a drop of blood into its murky waters...
