Windows 8 Laptop and NWN?
Hey y'all. I currently use NWN on my Windows 7 desktop and it runs like a dream. I am however hoping to get a laptop soon. I'd rather not order something - as I just want to snag up something decently priced from like best buy. I am just using it for internet, writing and NWN. However, jsut about everything I am seeing is Windows 8. I'm pretty meh about what I've seen so far. I love 7, but I'd rather not order a computer with it and spend more than I'd like. If it was going to be my primary I'd do that.
So- does anyone use NWN with Windows 8? Experience? I've seen mixed reviews online (which is better than all bad).
Anything I should know/avoid in a lappy for NWN that I wou'dn't think of? (I don't game on latops really ever so I'm kinda dumb on this.)

Re: Windows 8 Laptop and NWN?
I believe you have to run NWN in compatibility mode, just like in windows 7. You'll want to pick up Classic Shell, as well. Not because of NWN, but because you will curse the wretched Gods that allowed a universe to exist with this miserable piece of crap in it, should you fail to do so. Classic Shell gives you your dang start button back, among other things.

I run NWN on Windows 8 just fine, usually straight from a fresh install.

Re: Windows 8 Laptop and NWN?
You could use a virtual drive, though it is not recommended and not easy to do. I managed to get NWN to work on an XP partition of my Win 7 laptop. But I still prefer to run it on Win 7 directly.
If you can't get it to work on Win 8, you could create a Win 7 or Win XP partition and run NWN from there.
Or, if you have extra money, you could buy a new copy of NWN from GOG.com. Their games are compatible with newer laptops and relatively cheap. But you will need to use your old CD Keys in order to get online.
